A year older
On becoming 43
I never make a big deal of my birthday.
This year wasn't the exception, but those around me made it special, as they always do.
One of the things I am most grateful for this year is the ability to be calm in the face of change, adversity, and uncertainty.
I haven't become a monk, but 43-y.o. me is now better at handling all the curve balls life throws at us more gently.
I've learned to let go, I've learned to forgive, I've learned to appreciate and nurture, I've learned to connect, I've learned to not judge, I've learned to just be.
It's crazy to think about how I don't at all feel 43, and while my body might show it, in my mind I feel like a knowledgeable 20 something.
If I could share something with my 20-y.o. self, it would be: you'll be fine, kid.
You'll be fine.
