Heard this recently in a podcast:

📝
According to a study, once a decision is made, and we take said decision to be final, the brain starts convincing itself that the decision was the best decision. It starts being happier about the decision as time goes by.

The more action we take, the happier we will be.

If we get stuck planning, or shifting our minds between decisions without settling, the higher the risk of dissatisfaction, according to the study.

Therefore, the way to manufacture happiness, is to take action and stick to our decisions.

Now, do I prefer happiness or contentment? And, what's the difference?

For me, happiness is ephemeral. It's like when you are told a joke. You laugh for a while, and then you move on.

On the other hand, contentment, is a more permanent, sustainable state. It involves acceptance and gratitude. Contentment also involves saying no to things, empty desires, and unreasonable wants.

I prefer contentment over happiness, and would like to arbitrarily change the notion that one can manufacture happiness, to that of being able to manufacture contentment.
